Diversity Matters is a new quarterly speaker series focused
on furthering dialogue and exploring solutions related to equity,
diversity and inclusion in Chattanooga.
The series will kick off with H. Beecher Hicks, III the President and
CEO of the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM).
He’ll be sharing how the NMAAM has used our country's African
American music heritage to grow a new cultural tourism and preservation
institution in Nashville. He will speak on best practices that we can
use to address Chattanooga’s booming redevelopment while maintaining and
preserving African American culture and history -- essentially
placemaking without historic and cultural displacement.
