First Christmas: Home, Friday - Sunday, December 8 - 10, 2017

First Christmas: Home
December 8 2017 6:30 pm
FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga., October 31, 2017 – First Baptist Church Fort Oglethorpe is proud to present First Christmas: Home, an original story about friends and family gathering to celebrate, and how the real meaning of Christmas always brings us home. This second-annual special community worship event features both nostalgic and spiritual Christmas songs, compelling drama, and a captivating full orchestra with strings.
It’s Christmas once again—time to be with friends, family, and those who share a faith that points us to Jesus Christ, the one whom we celebrate. This year’s First Christmas production features a mixture of musical selections made famous by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir as well as classic carol medleys that tell of the Heavenly Savior King who came down to earth as a mere baby. Other musical highlights include the worship choir and soloists singing Kirk Franklin’s spiritial “Now Behold the Lamb” and a dynamic trio reviving a true Christmas favorite “Mary Did you Know?”.
The setting is a festive Christmas party, where everyone is welcome and expectant. The warmth in the air isn’t just Christmas spirit set aglow by the fireplace, but instead the spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ living in his people. True life stories you’ll hear from the stage as well as cherished music from this beloved season will pull your heart closer to Jesus this Christmas. So come, worship with us and experience the warmth and love of a Christmas at home.
Performance Details:
Friday, December 8 at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, December 9 at 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 10 at 10:45 a.m.
First Baptist Church Family Life Center | 2645 Lafayette Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.

Celebrate Christmas at Covenant, Thursday & Friday, December 7 & 8, 2017

Celebrate Christmas at Covenant
Come experience the joy of Christmas at Covenant College’s annual Christmas celebration on Thursday, December 7, 2017, or Friday, December 8, 2017. Free tickets are available on our website for the concerts in the chapel, and VIP parking can be reserved for $5.

Celebrate Christmas at Covenant is the result of collaboration throughout the entire music department and represents the work of students and faculty alike. Professors Scott Finch ’96, Lok Kim, Jim Ward, Kara Funke, and Cindy Wallis will direct ensembles during the performance.

The concert will center on the theme, “Marvelous in Our Eyes,” which calls attention to the fact that our appropriate response to reflecting on Christ’s first advent is sheer wonder, awe, and praise. We cannot be silent because God has not been silent. We hope that you will join us in praise of our King!

The concert will feature a wide range of musical talent including the Jazz Ensemble, Covenant Singers, Chamber Singers, Flute Choir, Brass Choir, Covenant Chorale, and Chamber Orchestra, with Jane Metcalfe ’19 as our featured organist.

Doors for the concerts will open at 6:30 p.m and the concerts begin at 7:00 p.m.
