Civic Engagement Summer Camp
Mon, Jun 18, 2018, 10:00 AM –
Wed, Jun 20, 2018, 3:00 PM

Objectives:

Civic Engagement In Action! This summer camp is dedicated to getting young women and minorities involved in the political processes at various levels. We are inviting campers to push their growth edges and challenge their ideas on the issues that directly impact their lives and the community they live in. Our three-day camp seeks to increase citizen participation and increasing campers’ knowledge of legislative and issue advocacy, voter engagement, campaign work, and running for public office.

Day 1 – Advocacy in Action!

Learn the skills needed to advocate for or against issues, lobby elected officials, and understand why voting matters.

Day 2 – Campaign Work!

In this immersion workshop, campers will learn how to canvass and phone bank for candidates. Equipped with these skills, campers will canvass, alongside of candidates running for local offices.

Day 3 – Running and Winning!

Through simulations, campers will run for office. They will learn how to create a platform, stump speech, campaign slogan, fundraise, and much more!
