Free Gift Wrapping at Two Blood Assurance locations, Friday, November 27, 2015

Free Gift Wrapping
at Two Blood Assurance locations
Friday, November 27
9 a.m. - 12 noon

Blood donors toting gifts at two locations of Blood Assurance on Friday, November 27, can get those packages wrapped for free.  From 9 a.m. until noon, designated workers at donor centers in East Brainerd (1740 Gunbarrel Road) and Hixson (1920 Northpoint Blvd) will trade gauze and bandage tape for bows and invisible tape to wrap gifts as a thank you to donors, who can save upt o three lives with a donation of blood.  Officials say the 45-minute process fills a critical need as blood donations are traditionally lower during the holiday season.  And you get a drink and a snack when you're done.  To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weight 110 pounds or more and be in good health.

3rd Annual St. Elmosey, Thursday, November 26, 2015

3rd Annual St. Elmosey
What is the St. Elmosey you ask? Great question!
The St. Elmosey is a Thanksgiving-Morning gathering of neighbors, friends, families and pets. This neighborhood ritual has turned into a great annual event. This year, we'll gather once again for some hot coffee and apple cider, Thanksgiving fellowship and a nice 1 mile stroll through our beautiful neighborhood.
We are excited to announce that we will serve as a satellite food-drive hub for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. So, plan to bring a couple of non-perishable items to donate to the Food Bank to help them fight hunger in our area.
Mark your calendars for 9am on 11/26, Thanksgiving Day. We convene at 42nd and Virginia Ave. We hope to see you there.

 Beat Hunger concert
Monday, November 23
annual Beat Hunger concert
to benefit the Community Kitchen.
It's always entertaining and informative.
The UTC Percussion Ensemble has some amazing student musicians playing music you're not likely to hear anywhere else.

The annual Beat Hunger concert is Monday, November 23 at 7:30 p.m., in the Roland Hayes Concert
Hall (UTC Fine Arts Center, on the corner of Vine and Palmetto Streets in downtown Chattanooga). You've heard the hype, so come see for yourself! Produced by the UTC Percussion Ensemble and directed by Dr. Monte Coulter, the concert benefits the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.
Admission to the concert has become a tradition, as well: 2 non-perishable food items, OR a two-dollar check to the Community Kitchen.
Chattanooga's own street drumming group, "Funkabuckets", will be performing in the Fine Arts Center lobby before the concert. If you missed them last year, don't! Funkabuckets are developing quite a name for themselves ” during the summer they appeared at the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra's premier fundraiser, the Uncorked night at Coolidge Park, and they were a huge hit!

City-wide Pot Luck, Monday, November 23, 2015

Join us at One Table

Monday, November 23rd from 11:30 - 1:30 at 850 Market Street
On November 23rd, Causeway is shutting down the block between Miller Park and Miller Plaza for our second annual, city-wide Thanksgiving potluck in the middle of Martin Luther King Boulevard: One Table.

We believe that to build a city that is an honest reflection of its residents, everyone should be invited to the table. So please, invite friends, family, strangers and acquaintances. There's no fee, no expectations and no agenda, just an open invitation to get to know your neighbors a little better and to give thanks for this city of ours, together.

Dish t’ Pass and Causeway will take care of the turkey and dressing, and some of Chattanooga’s best restaurants will bring some dishes to share. In true potluck fashion, please bring a ready-to-serve dish, if you are able.
