Friday, May 18
Clumpies Ice Cream Co. is adding a third shop in the Market Street space where the English Rose Tea Room had been until recently.
Clumpies Ice Cream Co. is having a block party to celebrate the opening of its third shop.
The grand opening, which includes live music and food trucks, is slated for May 18 from 4 to 9 p.m.
Clumpies plans to close 14th St. from Williams St. to Market St. for a block party with local food vendors, including 2 Sons Kitchen, Taqueria Jalisco and Good Dog.
Drink options include cold brew coffee from Mad Priest Coffee, Chattanooga Whiskey and other local beers, as well as specialty floats and cocktails featuring Clumpies ice cream.
Battle Academy’s after-school programs receive 10 percent of all vendor sales.
Live music begins at 4 p.m. with performances from local artists, including Tryezz, The Party Truck and Superbody.
The new shop doors open at 4:30 p.m., and everyone who attends the event receives a free ice cream cone or cup, with limited edition gifts for the first 50 guests in line.
In addition to live entertainment, food trucks and vendors, artist BlackCatTips are all scheduled to be on-site, providing an early kickoff to Chattanooga Nightfall downtown, according to a news release.
Kyle Brooks, also known as BlackCatTips will create a mural inside the new ice cream shop during the opening, while also working with guests on a large chalk art piece on 14th St.
Brooks is a painter, muralist and street folk artist from Georgia who has worked with brands such as Coca-Cola, Delta Air Lines and The Weather Channel, according to a news release.
“Kyle’s work is lots of fun and makes people happy,” Clumpies’ Senior Manager Doug Chapin said in a prepared statement. “That’s what we think ice cream does and what we set out to do every day too, so he’s the perfect person to bring in for our grand opening.”
