Straw Bale Gardening is rapidly becoming popular and you may have already heard of it. What is Straw Bale Gardening? It's simply a different type of container gardening. The main difference is that the container is actually the straw bale itself. Held together with two or three strings, the outside crust of the bale serves as the container. Once the straw inside the bale begins to decompose, the straw becomes "conditioned" and ready to plant, creating an extraordinarily productive, warm, moist and nutrient-rich rooting environment for your plants.
This method really works well and is an excellent way to grow if you have limited space, poor soil, or want to save your back from bending over so much. It's also a great money saver, too! At this event, you will learn the techniques to growing in straw bales, and our expert Greta Basham will demonstrate how to do it from start to finish. We will have available everything you would need to grow a successful straw bale garden.
There is no charge to attend. Attendees will receive a free full-color, how-to booklet and a discount to help you get growing. We will also have copies of the book, "Straw Bale Gardens" by Joel Karsten available for purchase. This course is based on this book as well as Greta's personal experience using this technique over the years.
