Passageways 2.0 Grand Opening Block Party
by River City Company
Alley party anyone? It's time to open the next incredible alley space in Downtown Chattanooga. Join us for a free block party with music, food, dance performances and more to celebrate the opening of City Thread on Saturday, November 10 from 4-7 pm. Come to 10 East 7th Street to join the fun.
Music will kick off at 4pm with Spinster, Courtney Reid and WARSAW bringing your musical entertainment throughout the evening. There will also be a dance performance by Pop Up Project along with food trucks, a cash bar and other vendors for you to enjoy. This event is family friendly.
You'll also have the chance to hear from and meet the Passageways 2.0 Design Team of Molly Hunker and Greg Corso from SPORTS in Syracuse, New York. The installation called City Thread consists of a continuous linear tube that physically connects visitors with a single gesture while also projecting a multitude of dynamic conditions along with painted accents. By virtue of its geometry, City Thread possesses many potential uses including seating, mini-stages, framing for art, large gatherings, farmers markets, movie screenings, and more. The design is intended to allow users to interpret and discover different ways to utilize the alley. In so doing, this art-as-urban-infrastructure can be used by a diverse range of users over the years, maintaining the alley as a vibrantly activated space.
Passageways 2.0 would not be possible without our sponsors and partners Tinker Ma, Public Art Chattanooga, Lyndhurst Foundationand Benwood Foundation. And a special thanks to the First Tennessee Bank, BEHR and Ragan-Smith Associates for helping to transform this alley space.
